Bio
Rachel Johnson is a
self-proclaimed/aspiring photographer and graphic designer studying at Florida
State University. She finds it humorous, though, that her passion for art
ironically clashes with her failing vision. These are but a few of her
achievements- her photos were featured in books such as ‘Mr. Food’s Christmas Made
Easy’, has been contracted by many families across South Florida for her
photography, and is currently working on graphic design for the FSU Women’s
basketball team. Rachel enjoys typography, rainy days, and warm chocolate chip
cookies. One day, she would like ‘extraordinaire’ attached to her name. And
maybe PhD, too. She can be contacted at [email protected].
Artist Statement
I design, I photograph, I observe,
I make, I see, I do… my work is a translation of all of the ideas I absorb in
my life and the collection of those ideas into a primarily digital medium. I
photograph and design and I am in love with the Adobe Creative Suite and Nikon
camera equipment- the tools I am most comfortable with. Art, specifically
digital art, is my chosen form of communication. I desire to come up with ideas
and make art from those ideas; that is what I want to give to my audience. Art
is the voice in which people listen best.
See, I am still trying to define Rachel Johnson, artist, and I am constantly exploring and learning what it means to be such. I am fascinated with the way society is structured and the ways in which people process and function. Although I am still learning about who I am and who I am as an artist, my body of work can be defined as an expedition into communication and a gathering of knowledge obtained by the of human connections.
I am eager to learn and do. I want to make and move and learn by doing so, taking in everything and learning from everything I experience in my life. That is what makes me the artist I tentatively call myself.
